An intervention from Brazil

Lea Santana from the University in Bahia, Brazil, made some remarks (thursday afternoon at the EADI-conference) about the researchers and the research-process that are plausible to the earlier discussion of Open Access.

If the research becomes both more social, web 2.0 and action/process-oriented, the researchers´ need for selling their end product and protect their copyright will diminish in importance. Copyright and normal publishing houses will be an obstacle rather than an inspirer to the progress of science in this case. Given this development it could be favourable to publish online and spread relevant outcomes of the research to the right target groups through diferent web 2.0-tools instead.
